Minister saves six from a sinking car
Bangalore, Sept 18: There are very few, who think about others before themselves and on Tuesday primary and secondary education minister Kimmane Ratnakar did the same. He jumped into a lake and saved a family of six, who were trapped in a sinking car.

Ratnakar on early Tuesday morning was travelling in his official Innova to Bangalore from his native town Thirthahalli, when his car was overtaken by a Maruti Swift. A little ahead Ratnakar found the same car sinking in the Beguvalli lake with the occupants trapped inside.

Ratnakar then, along with his gunman, driver and escort vehicle driver jumped into the water to save the occupants, who were screaming for help.

Driver Chandrashekar with the help of his men, opened the rear door and pulled out three children and brought them safely to the shore. They then went back to rescue the remaining occupants including a 55-year-old woman. The man in the driver seat was said to be unconscious.

The car steering had locked, plunging it into the lake

Ratnakar, then called a doctor, who treated the family and then arranged medicines and breakfast for them.

According to the family's statement, the car's steering had locked, which sent the car plunging into the lake. Inspite of desperate attempts, the family members could not get out of the car.

Ratnakar is an MLA from the Thirthalli constituency in Shimoga district.
