God unites, Biryani divides! Man tries to kill self after wife cooks non-veg dish

Bangalore, Aug 13: A 32-year-old man reportedly tried to kill himself after his wife cooked chicken biriyani for their son's birthday in the holy monsoon month of Shravan! The bizarre incident, which occurred at Vasanthnagar area on August 7 night, was reported in

Murali Kumar, a small-time businessman, had reportedly asked his wife several times to prepare vegetarian food on the occasion of their second son's birthday for it fell in the holy month of Shravan when several people stick to vegetarian diet as a ritual, the report said.

But when he returned home to discover that his wife did not keep his request and cooked chicken biriyani instead, he felt upset. His wife even tried to force him to taste the menu and the couple got involved in an argument. At this point, Murali pulled out a knife in the kitchen and stabbed himself in the abdomen, the report added.

The wife then alerted the landlord and the husband, who was badly injured then, was taken to the hospital where he is battling for life, the report said.

Police said they were waiting for the victim's version to make legal progress in the case.
