Bengaluru, June 5: Toss isn't the only way to decide the winner in sports. Nowadays, it is even used in elections in India! Yes, one such bizarre incident happened on Friday, when the results of the gram panchayat election in Karnataka came out.

Sachin and Somappa, two candidates in Madanur Gram panchayat in Koppal taluk received 130 votes in the recently held election and to decide the winner, the election officer went for a toss and Sachin had a better luck.

So toss and Sachin are closely related?

More than 5,400 panchayats voted to fill more than 94,000 seats in the election that took place over a few weeks. It was for the first time that electronic voting machines were used in some booths in these elections. The state government had made voting mandatory in the elections although it was not supposed to take action against those who didn't vote for the authorities just wanted to encourage people to vote more.
