Speaking at a press conference in Mangalore on Wednesday, he said the Left parties will be consulted before taking the final call as they are natural allies of the JD(S). He also added that there is no question of aligning with either the Congress or the BJP.
The JD(S) lost to the ruling Congress in two prestigious Lok Sabha bypolls in the state last month, leading to resignation by state party chief and son of Deve Gowda, HD Kumaraswamy.
Deve Gowda said his aim now is to strengthen the party and not third front
The veteran JD(S) chief said his aim is now to strengthen the party and not form a third front in national politics. The JD(S) leadership was rattled by the loss of the bypolls in its strongholds.
Deve Gowda will tour the districts along with current state chief A Krishnappa while Kumaraswamy, also a former chief minister, will tour the old Mysore districts before the JD(S) leadership finalises its Lok Sabha candidates.
Meanwhile, Krishnappa said he was confident that his party will win a minimum of 15 seats in the Lok Sabha elections.
