Bengaluru, Oct 20: Displaying complete abuse of power, K C Narayan Gowda, JD(S) MLA allegedly manhandled an executive engineer at the irrigation department, Hemavathi irrigation division in KR Pet, Mysore.
The MLA, as seen in the video, attempted to drag the engineer, Narayan out of his office and threatened to set the office on fire.
The MLA warned to set the office on fire if the department did not heed to his demand of discharging water to the canal. As the MLA went on a rampage, police constables at the venue stood like mute spectators.
The MLA was leading a protest demanding the release of Hemavati water to save the standing crops in the KR Pet taluk. The MLA said that the officials were not bothered about the crops dying. After the incident, several other JD(S) workers also created a ruckus at the office.
In the video, the MLA is seen snatching files and throwing them.
The police say that a case would be registered if someone filed a complaint. The JD(S), however, termed it as a minor incident and said that the official was not manhandled, but was being taken out to witness the plight of the people.
