JD(S) MPs want Jayalalithaa to be buried in Mandya, hotbed of Cauvery agitation

MPs of JD(S) from Karnataka said that deceased AIADMK leader J Jayalalithaa should be buried in her birthplace in Mandya. Their statement came under severe criticism by pro-kannada organisations.
JD(S)' Rajya Sabha MP Kupendra Reddy and Mandya MP C S Puttaraju said that they would dedicate one acre land in Melukote to build a memorial for Jayalalithaa and bury her there. “She is the daughter of our land. If they give us her mortal remains, we would like her to be buried in her birthplace”, MP Puttaraju said.

Their statement has earned the wrath of pro-Kannada and farmer organisations alike. The leaders' statement is being critised as a mockery to all the agitations taken up by people of Karnataka over Cauvery water sharing issue. Pro-Kannada organisations accused the leaders of praising Jayalalithaa despite her causing water troubles for farmers of Mandya and Mysuru region.
