India has been seeking his extradition for the past year, but have not been able to convince the authorities in the UAE as yet.

UAE has been asking for more concrete evidence against Wahid and his alleged activities. Indian officials have now decided that they would take a fresh look into the matter and press for his extradition while telling UAE about the importance of this alleged operative.

Wahid's name was put on the watch list through the Interpol after his name had cropped up during the investigations into the various bomb blasts carried out by the Indian Mujahideen.

The National Investigating Agency had learnt about Wahid through Yasin Bhatkal. After the arrest of Yasin Bhatkal, he was questioned by officers of the NIA and this led to information relating to Wahid.

The NIA has managed to get the chat transcripts between Yasin and Wahid in which both are allegedly discussing certain terror related operations.

Wahid according to the Indian files is a resident of Bhatkal and had allegedly helped the Indian Mujahideen raise funds.
