1884: India's first president Rajendra Prasad was born.

1889: India's young martyr Khudiram Bose was born.

1906: The US Supreme Court orders extradition of leaders of the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) to Idaho for trial in the Steunenberg murder case.

1916: French commander Joseph Joffre, who played a key role in defeating the Germans in the First Battle of Marne in 1914, dismissed after his failure in the Battle at Somme.

1918: The Allied Powers' conference concludes in London. In the meeting, it was decided that Germany must pay for World War I.
