Siddaramaiah inaugurates 200th flower show at Lalbagh
This year, the show organisers decided to make a Royal Mysore Palace and the Dasara procession with 3 lakh roses as the prime attraction. Elephants, horses and soldiers have also been made of flowers for display at the show. The Taj Mahal, Eiffel Tower and the Namma Metro have been the main themes in the previous years.
Flower shows are being held in the 240 acres premises in Lalbag for 102 years now. The first flower show was held in 1912 when GH Krumbeigel took over as superintendent of Lalbagh. Each show costs us about Rs. 90 lakh Lalbagh was initially a 40-acre private garden of former ruler of Mysore Hyder Ali in 1760 and it was further developed by his son Tipu Sultan.
