Bengaluru shocker: Vaishnavi's death drives grandparents to commit suicide
Bengaluru, May 29: In a shocking incident on Monday (May 23), an elderly couple committed suicide by jumping in front of a running train in Hebbal, Bengaluru. The couple did so as they were unable to forget their 7-year-old granddaughter's accidental death.
The incident happened on the night of May 23. Earlier, cops failed to identify the dead bodies and shifted them to Bowring Hospital mortuary. Later, with the help of a suicide note submitted by Vaishnavi's parents, the dead bodies were identified.
The identified bodies were KV Murty, (70-year-old) and his wife Chaya Murthy, (65-year-old). Guruprasad informed police that their parents were depressed over death of their grandchild, Vashnavi Prasad who died on August, 15, 2015 in a fatal tragedy as a swarm of bees stung her in Lal Bagh after which she lost her life.
Earlier, while talking to OneIndia KV Murty had said, "Vaishnavi is very close to us and it is very great loss for us as she was the only grandchild in house."
"We had decided to adopt a child and name her Vaishnavi, but my parents took such extreme step," Guruprasad told Railway police.
According to police information, Guruprasad said, "His parents went missing from the evening of May 23. As we tried to find them, we received a message on mobile phone saying that they are committing suicide. We even recovered a hand written note, which I have given to the police." Police who had alerted all police control rooms received information from Hebbal, Railway police that an unidentified couple committed suicide. Guruprasad visited the hospital and identified their bodies.
