Bengaluru to receive heavy rains from May 18, predicts weatherman
Berngaluru, May 18: Bengalureans! After a lot of delay and a dry April, it's finally the time to brace yourselves for heavy rains and to flash your umbrellas and rain coats.
Bengaluru that was reeling under sweltering heat since March is all set to get drenched in its usual avatar from May 18, if predictions by weatherman are to be believed.
According to news reports, heavy thundershowers are expected to lash various parts of north, south and coastal Karnataka in coming days till May 20.
Meteorological Centre, Bengaluru has predicted that the IT City will witness a spell of heavy rains from Wednesday, May 18 to next three days.
"These are all pre-monsoon showers; monsoon is expected to arrive in June", an official from MeT Department said.
The rainfall intensity is expected to increase around May 17 and 18, Skymet weather reported.
Several districts like Chamrajnagar, Mysore, Mandya, Bangalore, Dakshin Kannada, and Kodagu may also witness good showers. Isolated places in these areas may receive heavy rains as well. However, areas in North Interior Karnataka will only receive scattered rains.
On Sunday, May 15, Belagavi and Madikeri received rainfall.
