Bengaluru: Mother takes death on herself, saves daughter from murderer son-in-law
Bengaluru, Aug 3: A fight between a couple took a violent turn when the man tried to stab his wife, but was intervened by his mother-in-law and was killed in the process.
47 year old Manjula, lost her life in order to save her daughter from being attacked by her angry son-in-law- Nagaraj Nayak.
According to the police, Nayak, who works in a private company married Sumalatha about five years ago. The couple have a son too. Nayak was suspecting his wife's fidelity and had frequent quarrels with her. On Tuesday, he picked up a fight again, which turned violent.
Police said, "After learning about the incident, Manjula rushed to the couple's house and she got into a heated argument with Nayak, supporting her daughter. An enraged Nayak pushed her aside and tried to stab his wife with a knife. In a bid to save her daughter, Manjula came in between and she got stabbed in her abdomen. As she fell unconscious, Nayak locked the main door from outside and escaped. Hearing Sumalatha's screams, neighbours opened the door in a while. Manjula was immediately rushed to a hospital, but she succumbed on the way."
The police is now on the lookout for Nagaraj.
