Bengaluru: After Uber, now Ola launches bike taxi service

Bengaluru, March 3: Online cab aggregators Uber and its rival Ola have launched bike taxis in the city on Thursday (March 3).

Firms like Hey Bob had taken similar initiatives to launch bike taxis in Bengaluru. Now, Both Ola and Uber have come up with the same service which will be cheaper than autorickshaw fares.


From Thursday, the Uber app will also feature the option of 'UberMoto' which will provide you with the facility to book a ride. Ola has also come up with a similar feature for its service.

Just 10 days ago, the Uber launched 'UberMoto' in Bangkok and now Bengaluru is the first city in India to see such bike taxi service. While Uber has kept the minimum fare at Rs 15 for 'UberMoto', Ola will charge Rs 30. [Bengaluru traffic? No problem; Book a bike taxi]


According to reports, UberMoto has been launched at Rs 3 per kilometre and Re 1 per minute of trip time. Ola bikes, on the other hand, are available at an introductory fare of Rs 2 per km and Re 1 per minute of trip time.

Srijita, a commuter, told Oneindia: "The service will help commuters to reach its destination in minimum time. Now, every person can avail this facility which is also cheap."
