Bengaluru, July 7: In a matter of pride for the IT City, IPS, Inspector General of Police & Additional Commissioner of Police, Administration, Bengaluru, BNS Reddy won gold at a tennis tournament at the World Police meet in the US.
Reddy participated in World Police and Fire Games 2015 at Fairfax in Virginia and won the Gold Medal in Men's 55 Singles by defeating Mr Bruce Barrios of US (7 -5; 7-6).
57-year-old Reddy became the first person from Karnataka and South India and Second Indian to win a Gold Medal in The World Police and Fire Games so far.
Reddy was quoted saying as to the Bangalore Mirror, "It is an awesome experience playing at the world level. I am the first person from Karnataka and south India and the second Indian to win gold in the World Police and Fire Games, so far."
"I made the police department and India proud," an ecstatic Reddy said.
The games began on June 26 to 'honour and celebrate community heroes.
On Monday, July 6, medals were presented to the winners during the closing ceremony of the games.
400 men and women from 70 countries particpated in the singles and doubles tennis event whereas a total of around 1,000 athletes took part in the games.
