Bangalore's college students celebrate Onam (in pics)
Bangalore, Sept 11: With Onam falling just round the corner, cities across India are pepping up their celebrations with Pookalam - the traditional flower rangoli, wearing traditional clothes like Kasavu - the traditional off white saree with golden border, and performing around the Pookalam.
Acharya Institues' one the biggest campus of Bangalore celebrates Onam in the traditional style. Campus was filled with festive decorations which displayed the culture and tradition of Kerala. Plays such as Teyyam, Thiruvaadirakkali, Kathakkali, Kudiyattam, Oppana, Mapilla paat, Kalaripayattu, pulikali etc., were creatively performed by the students.
Traditional Onam sweet "Ari Paayasam", made of rice, was also served.
"I can see the real colors and flavors of Kerala here, the event is wonderfully arranged, the entire campus looks bright and wonderfull" quotes Prathibha Shankar, Lecturer, Dept. of Psychology.
The programme was inaugurated by Madhavi Srinivas, HR, Acharaya Institutes, Prof. Gurunath Rao Vaidya, Principal, AIGS, Prof. Chandramouli A S, Head, Dept. of Mass Communication.
