Bangalore, Sep 26: We could say that Bangalore was floating in water since Thursday night as about 130 mm of unprecedented rain pounded the city. The wind touched a speed of 20-25 kmph.

Water gushed into many under-bridges, houses in low-lying areas, and a lot of damaged roads and tree falling was reported from the city, causing inconvenience to people. Traffic jams were also reported across the city till midnight due to water logging at many places.

Several vehicles were stranded for hours from Rajajeshwarinagar gate to Kengeri due to the breakdown of a bus and a lorry. A similar situation was witnessed at Majestic, Rajarajeshwari Nagar and Okalipuram.

Three to five feet water was clogged up at Shivananda Circle Junction, Jayanagar, Double Road, Rhenius Street, Majestic and Cunningham Road and many other places. Rainwater mixed with sewage gushed into houses at Anepalya, Ejipura, Neelasandra, Austin Town and Frazer Town.

People struggled to reach their destinations as there were no autorickshaws or cabs on the road after 7:30 pm. Buses were also not available.
