Bengaluru, Oct 19: An Australian national has alleged that he and his friend were harassed in Bengaluru by an unruly crowd for having a tattoo of a Hindu goddess.
Matt Keith and his friend were stopped by a crowd on Saturday, Oct 17 outside a restaurant for his tattoo of Goddess, Yellama on his shin. Reports suggest that the crowd took offence to his tattoo and forced him to write an apology.
Keith and his friend were taken to the police station where Keith wrote an apology that stated: "I am very sorry for offending Hindu religious beliefs by my tattoo. I didn't know of this auspicious custom in regard to tattoo placement. I will make sure to cover it up until I am in India."
