Attack on AAP volunteers in Bangalore

Bangalore, Jan 11: In an unfortunate incident, some Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) volunteers were reportedly beaten up by political opponents during the party's membership drive near Central Mall, Bellandur, Outer Ring Road, in Bangalore on Saturday evening.

According to the press release of AAP Karnataka Media Cell, the incident took place around 5:30 pm.

"Our volunteers were campaigning peacefully when some people came and started into an argument and later started beating them up. Fortunately, no one was seriously hurt except one of our volunteers who has got a swollen wrist and has been taken to hospital for required treatment", AAP Karnataka statement said.

"The response we are generating from the citizens in Karnataka has made our political opponents nervous. It signals the endorsement of the politics of AAP by the people of Karnataka. This incident has made our resolve stronger in fighting for our cause", it further said.

"Our guys were campaigning near Bellandur on outer ring road when a gang of four to five unidentified men abused and manhandled our people, they were hit," APP Karnataka spokesperson Rohit Ranjan said.

"One of our guys had bruises, he was later given first aid; ....our people are rattled by the incident," he said.

Ranjan alleged "there are a few people who are rattled by our progress and the extent of support we are getting here."

He however,said they had not registered any complaint with the police "as of now."
