Latest reports by NDTV suggest that out of the 21 killed, 7 were women and 6 children. The truck was carrying close to 50 labourers, mostly tribals, who were on their way to work on sugercane plantations in Maharashtra. Sources said that the truck was moving in high speed and the driver could not control a bad stretch, which resulted in the toppling of the vehicle.
Investigators blame overloading for the accident that happened at 3:30 am on Saturday. The injured have been admitted at a hospital in Bailahongal in Belgaum.
