LS polls: Karnataka sees voter turnout of 67.28 per cent
A number of heavyweights are contesting the Lok Sabha election from this state. A former prime minister (HD Deve Gowda of Janata Dal (Secular)) and six former chief ministers are the fray. Special focus will be on IT czar Nandan Nilekani, who is taking on five-time MP Ananth Kumar from Bangalore South constituency.

Weather in Karnataka on April 17: Sunny and partly cloudy. Temperature expected to rise as the day progresses. Hence, it is advised to vote at the earliest to avoid the heat.
Other prominent candidates are BJP's BS Yeddyurappa, Union Congress minister Veerappa Moily and JD(S) leader and son of HD Deve Gowda, HD Kumaraswamy. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has also fielded a number of candidates including another former IT man V Balakrishnan who is contesting from Bangalore Central.
Twenty-seven out of 28 Congress candidates in Karnataka are billionaires. Nandan Nilekani, with a declared asset of Rs 77 billion, is the richest candidate in fray.

6:54 pm: Karnataka sees final voter turnout of 67.28 per cent.
In Bangalore, Bangalore South witnessed 55.69 per cent turnout (44.74 per cent in 2009), Bangalore North saw 56.46 per cent (46.72 per cent in 2009) and Bangalore Central witnessed 55.7 per cent turnout (44.55 per cent in 2009). In Bangalore Rural, the voter turnout was 68 per cent (57.92 per cent in 2009).
