CNN-IBN election tracker: BJP set for landslides in Gujarat & MP

New Delhi, April 2: The CNN-IBN's election tracker for the upcoming Lok Sabha election done jointly with the Lokniti, CSDS and The Week between March 18 and 25 revealed the following figures in various states:

Gujarat (26 seats)

The net satisfaction level with the Narendra Modi government in Gujarat is 47 per cent. Forty per cent of the respondents feels the state has seen great development in the last 10 years while 15% feels development has occurred but not as pr the claims. Twenty-three per cent of the respondents feels that the development in the state has benefitted a few.

Forty-six per cent of the respondents agree with Arvind Kejriwal that the development in Gujarat has benefitted the corporates.

Thirty-eight per cent of the respondents feels price rise is the most important poll issue in the state.

Predicted vote-shares and seats

BJP may get 55% vote-share, as against 47% in 2009 (20-26 seats)

Congress may get 31% vote-share, as against 43% in 2009 (0-4 seats)

AAP may get 10% vote-share (0-2 seats)

Others may get 8% vote-share, as against 10% in 2009

In terms of choice of prime minister, 46% of the respondents back Modi while 15% backs Rahul Gandhi. Sonia Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal are in the third and fourth positions, respectively.

Madhya Pradesh (29 seats)

Net satisfaction with Shivraj Singh Chouhan government is 66%, while that with the UPA government is 11%. Twenty-three per cent of the respondents feels corruption is the most important poll issue.Fifteen per cent of respondents feels price rise is a vital poll issue.

Predicted vote-shares and seats

BJP may get 52%, as against 43% in 2009 (24-28 seats)

Congress may get 28% vote-share, as against 30% in 2009 (1-5 seats)

BSP may get 5% vote-share, as against 6% in 2009 (zero seats)

Others may get 15% vote-share, as against 11% in 2009 (zero seats)

Maharashtra (48 seats)

Net satisfaction with the Prithviraj Chavan government is minus 9% while it is 1% with the UPA govt. Twenty-three per cent of the respondents wants to give the UPA govt another chance while 58% says no.

Twenty per cent of the respondents feels development is the top poll issue while 19% feels it is corruption. Price-rise is third.

Predicted vote-shares and seats

BJP and allies may get 43% vote-share, as against 38% in 2009 (24-30 seats)

Congress and allies may get 33% vote-share, as against 39% in 2009 (16-22 seats)

AAP may get 5% vote-share

MNS may get 3% vote-share, as against 4% in 2009

Forty-two per cent of the respondents backs Narendra Modi as the PM while 16% backs Rahul Gandhi.

Chhattisgarh (11 seats)

Seventy per cent satisfaction level with Raman Singh government while 37% is satisfied with the UPA government at the Centre. Price rise is considered top poll issue by 16% while 13% believes development is a key poll issue.

Predicted vote-shares and seats

BJP may get 45% vote-share, as against 44% in 2009

Congress may get 39% vote-share, as against 37% in 2009

BSP may get 4% vote-share, as against 5% in 2009

Others may get 13% vote share, same as that of 2009.

Twenty-four per cent of the respondents blames the state government for the repeated Naxalite violence in the state while 12% blames the central government.
