Twist in Sexual Assault: Asaram becomes Ghajini, forgets raped sisters

Ahmedabad, Oct 15: Asaram Bapu, the controversial spiritual guru seems to have become Ghajini. He reportedly has claimed that he does not recognise the two Surat sisters who allegedly were raped by him and his son Narayan Sai. Asaram, who recently was brought to Ahmedabad from Jodhpur, was presented before a session court in Gujarat on Tuesday, Oct 15.

Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) interrogated the 75-year-old self-styled godman in connection with the fresh rape charges hurled against him by the Surat sisters.

The elder of the two sisters had accused Asaram of sexual assaulting her between 1997 and 2006. She reportedly had stayed at Asaram's ashram on the outskirts of Ahmedabad city.

The younger sister, on the contrary, accused Sai of sexual assaulting her repeatedly between 2002 and 2005 when she was living in their Surat ashram. Sai along with his mother Lakshmi and sister Bharti has gone missing ever since the fresh rape charges have been filed against them.

Asaram was arrested in connection with a sexual assault case in which he allegedly had assaulted a 16-year-old girl in his ashram near Jodhpur, Rajasthan on Aug 15, 2013. He was lodged in Jodhpur Central Jail. He was taken to Ahmedabad on Monday, Oct 14.
