Congress responsible for dividing India: Narendra Modi in Gujarat

Ahmedabad, Nov 10: Gujarat Chief Minister and the BJP's prime  ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Sunday slammed Congress-led UPA government while inaugurating a multi-speciality hospital at Galteshwar, Kheda in his state.

Modi, who was addressing a crowd at the launch of the hospital run by the Muslim trust said, "Congress is responsible for dividing the country." He further said, "I ask the PM. Your birth place was part of India. Now it is part of Pakistan. Who changed this geography Mr PM? Who broke up this nation?"

Modi also questioned PM Dr Manmohan Singh on his silence over corruption and inflation.

Modi also alleged that "it has become a trend to criticise Gujarat". He also invoked Gujarat development model while slamming Congress.

While attacking PM, Modi said, "India has lost land to China under Manmohan Singh. Part of India which went to China happened during your government and that of your predecessors."

On Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Modi said, "Jawahar Lal Nehru had got Bharat Ratna in lifetime and so did India's former PM Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi had got the award soon after he was assassinated. Patel was awarded the Bharat Ratna 35 years after his death".

"Patel united the country but what did the Congress do. They forgot him for one family," he said.
