Asaram's wife, daughter get anticipatory bail

According to a report, Gandhinagar sessions court granted anticipatory bail to Asaram's wife Lakshmi and his daughter Bharti on a personal bond of Rs 50, 000 each, in connection with the sexual assault case of two sisters.

The Gujarat police had issued lookout notice against Asaram's son Narayan Sai along with his wife and daughter following reports that they may have fled country.

Surat-based two sisters had registered complaint that were repeatedly sexually assaulted by the father-son duo between 2002 and 2004, when they were living in his Ahmedabad ashram.

Laxmi and Bharti have been booked by the Surat police for their involvement in their sexual assault.

72-year-old Asaram identified two sisters when he was produced in Ahmedabad court on Monday, but he denied committing sexual assault on them.

In the FIR, the two sisters have complained that elder one was assaulted by Asaram in Ahmedabad ashram while the younger one was assaulted by Narayan Sai in Surat.

The police has booked father-son duo on charges of rape, sexual assault, illegal confinement among other charges.

On October 12, Lakshmi and her daughter Bharti were seen in Gujarat High Court while Asaram's bail plea was being examined.
