Cong took Sheila to Gujarat, now BJP invites Modi to Delhi

New Delhi, Sept 4: The Congress has decided to project Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit as its face of success during the Gujarat assembly polls last December to counter the Narendra Modi magic. Now, the Delhi BJP unit is planning to invite Gujarat Chief Minister who is also the party's chief of the 2014 election campaign committee to back it in the assembly polls due in sometime.

A senior BJP leader said that a public rally will be held in Delhi later this month and all senior party leaders including Modi will be present there to boost the party. The BJP has not tasted victory in Delhi since 1993 when Madan Lal Khurana became the chief minister and is desperate to defeat Dikshit, who has won successive terms.

The Delhi BJP reportedly requested Modi to attend campaign in the state while state election in-charge Nitin Gadkari said he has asked the BJP leaders and workers to connect more with the people.

Over 100 BJP leaders took part in a marathon meeting on Tuesday where they spoke on several issues. The party wants to focus on a few key issues affecting the common man and hold awareness campaigns to connect with the masses. Issues like corruption, women's safety and price rise came up for detailed discussion at the meeting.

The internal bickering the party was also discussed and the senior leaders stressed a better management and communication between the party leaders.

Delhi BJP chief Vijay Goel said the party needs to attract young voters.
