Sexual Assault Case: Godman Asaram in trouble, sent to jail

on Monday, Sept 2 has been sent to 15-day judicial custody. The "guru" was arrested over a sexual assault case.

Jodhpur Police earlier on Sunday had taken Asaram to his ashram where he allegedly had assaulted a 16-year-old school girl. "Our case is very strong and moving in the right direction. More time would be required to complete the probe, and it would be decided at the time of producing Asaram whether to seek more time for police custody or judicial custody", Jodhpur DPC Ajay Pal Lamba told reporters.

The self-styled godman earlier had passed potency test. Jodhpur Police also conducted a physical verification and tried to create the scene of crime. Asaram has denied sexual assault charges lodged against him by the schoolgirl.

The sexual assault case was filed by an inmate of his Chhindwara-based ashram in Madhya Pradesh. The assault allegedly took place in Jodhpur following which a case was initially registered in Delhi and later transferred to Jodhpur for probe.
