According to the summon given to him by the Jodhpur police, Asaram is supposed to appear in front of the police on Friday. However, he has been evading his arrest for over a week now and according to some reports he has written a letter to the police asking them more time to appear.
In the alleged letter Asaram has stated two reasons asking for more time- one, his close relative's death, because of which he cannot appear in person and other reason cited by him is that one of his disciples is not well.
The Jodhpur police however said that they haven't received any formal written communication from the self- styled godman and say that if he fails to appear today, he is more likely to be arrested and a Non Bailable Warrant (NBW) will be issued against him. The police even refused to extend his deadline anymore.
If Asaram fails to turn up by evening, the police will arrest him
If he fails to turn up by evening, the police will make arrangements to arrest him. Three police teams have been readied to be sent to Chindwara, Bhopal and Ahmedabad to arrest Asaram.
On Thursday evening a PIL was filed against Bapu demanding a CBI investigation in the sexual abuse charges levied against him.He even lashed out at the media on Thursday saying that they were instigating him and said that Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi were behind the whole issue.
