Mumbai: Govindas wearing Narendra Modi masks to break 'dahi handi'

Mumbai, Aug 29: With chants of ‘Aale Re Aala, Govinda Aala', Mumbai's much celebrated "dahi-handi" festival is all set to be more excited, on Thursday.

The reason is that the BJP's star-leader 'Narendra Modi' is set to break dahi-handi!


Before you think further, not one but hundreds of 'Govindas' of dahi-handi teams clad in "Narendra Modi" t-shirts and his face masks will break dahi-handi in Mumbai today.

On Sunday, the Mumbai BJP led by Ashish Shelar distributed "masks" and "t-shirts" with Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's picture on them to members of 'dahi-handi' festival teams.

Besides that, the Mumbai BJP chief Ashish Shelar also distributed insurance policies to around 350 mandals.

"As many as 30,000 members of dahi handi teams have been given insurance policies with a cover of Rs 1.5 lakh per person," the BJP functionary said.

As the countdown for 2014 general elections is about to begin, the BJP is leaving no stone unturned in raising the popularity graph of its star leader-the Narendra Modi.

The famous "dahi-handi" function is celebrated all across Maharashtra with special programmes in Mumbai, Thane and Nagpur with enormous zeal and enthusiasm to celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna.
