Kalam urges scientists to develop better defense technologies

Hyderabad, Aug 27: Andhra Pradesh Governor E S L Narasimhan inaugurated the silver jubilee celebrations of Research Centre Imarat (RCI), a premier institution of the Defense Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) here, while former president A P J Abdul Kalam exhorted RCI scientists to develop superior defense technologies.

RCI is engaged in the design and development of world class weapons systems to strengthen the country's armed forces. "As you celebrate the silver jubilee, you must have a vision for RCI's golden jubilee, one that you would be remembered for. Would you be remembered for developing re-usable long-range hypersonic cruise missiles or for design, development and deployment of long range missile systems," Kalam asked RCI scientists.

Kalam: Build better defense technologies
"Yesterday, natural resources defined power and today it is knowledge. Yesterday, it was hierarchy and today it's synergy. While seniority drove status yesterday, it is creativity today. Above all, you should work with integrity and succeed with integrity," Kalam said.

The former president said that India needed value-based scientists, value-based technologists and value-based scientific leaders.

Former directors of RCI were felicitated on the occasion.
