Twitter abuzz with rage over gangrape of Mumbai's photojournalist
Mumbai, Aug 23: A 22-year-old photojournalist was gangraped by five people at the Shakti Mills compound in Lower Parel in southern part of the Maximum City around 6.30 pm on Thursday. The victim was accompanied by a male friend who was tied before the heinous crime was committed. She works for a magazine and was reportedly on her official duty when the attack took place.
A case of gangrape was registered in N M Joshi Marg Police Station and 20 people were detained in connection to the case. The girl also identified two of the culprits as Rupesh and Sajid, police said.
The male colleague of the victim was taken back to the crime scene by the police and around 45 people were interrogated.
She is undergoing treatment at Jaslok Hospital after suffering multiple injuries. Sketches of five accused were released on Friday morning and all of them have been arrested by the Mumbai police.
The Parliament, which is currently in session, was taken by a storm over the gangrape, common man took to Twitter to express their rage and concern.
Unsatisfied with justice, elections, politics, safety of this country's women and several states becoming the "next Delhi", Twitterati taunted every part of this system.
