Police arrest one suspect, identify others in the Mumbai gangrape case
Mumbai, Aug 23: Just as the country was awaiting the judgement in the Delhi gang rape case, nine months later comes another shocking incident from Mumbai.
A 22- year old photojournalist was gang raped here on Thursday night when she was on an assignment with her male colleague. The woman, who is now admitted and undergoing treatment in the Jaslok Hospital is said to be in a stable condition, according to the hospitable authorities.
The Mumbai Police claims to have cracked the case and have caught one suspect and identified all others whose sketches were released early Friday morning. The police are scheduled to hold a press conference today at 1.30pm to make it details of the case public.
The photojournalist who works for a magazine was out on an assignment for the anniversary issue of the magazine.
Massive outrage has sparked over the country with women and activists demanding more security and harsh punishment for rape accused, while Shiv Sena has demanded a resignation from the Maharashtra Home Minister R R Patil.
