Rawalpindi, Aug 20: A Pakistani court on Tuersday indicted Former Pakistan president Parvez Musharraf over the murder of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto in a gun and suicide attack in 2007, a prosecutor said.
Bhutto was killed during a rally in the city of Rawalpindi.
Musharraf has been under house arrest on the edge of the capital Islamabad since April 19.
"The former army general was charged with murder, criminal conspiracy for murder and facilitation for murder," public prosecutor Chaudhry Muhammed Azhar told the news agency at the anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi hearing the case.
Meanwhile the court read out the charges in the court where Musharraf denied it and the case has been adjourned until Aug 27.
Charging a former army chief is an unprecedented move in a country ruled for more than half of its life by the military and where the army is still considered the most powerful institution.
