Congress vs Rest: Karnataka by-polls tomorrow
The BJP has joined hands with JDS to contest against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The first by-poll elections after he came to power, he has to fight real hard to cope with JDS in the two constituencies, both strong Vokkaliga regions that JDS reigned till date.
Confident about their win is JDS general secretary T Prabhakar, who claims,"People have taken a decision to vote against the Congress, so we're going to win. "These by-polls have drawn the attention of the moolahs al the more because of the understanding between the JDS and the BJP. While the latter are not contesting in these elections, JDS would not be participating in the council elections to be held next week.
Call it adjustment politics, but party members have a different thing in mind. "We should send a message. It's Congress vs BJP or Congress vs others. These are the two options. We should initiate somewhere, for that, we made a beginning in these elections," said Sadananda Gowda, BJP leader.
Sensing danger, the Congress has fielded actress Ramya in Mandya in the hope of winning votes from fans. In the neighboring constituency it is strong competition between JDS leader HD Kumaraswamy's wife Anitha versus DK Suresh of the Congress. Suresh is the brother of Vokkaliga Congress MLA DK Shivakumar.
