Girl tries to rob mother with Pakistani boyfriend, caught at airport
The 20-year-old girl identified only by her initials as NKD, and her Pakistani boyfriend have been arrested for trying to rob and smuggle 20 kilograms of her mother's gold jewellery in order to settle down outside the country, Sharjah Police have said.
The girl disappeared after her mother left her in a taxi giving the impression that she has been kidnapped. But it turned out that she, along with her Pakistani boyfriend, tried to steal gold worth almost 5 crore, from her mother, for a new life abroad.
PTI reported that as her mother was preparing documents to take the gold back to India at the Sharjah Customs Department in Dubai, her daughter went missing and she lodged a complaint with the police that her daughter was kidnapped. It was discovered only later that she was not kidnapped but had tried to elope.
According to the plan, the girl switched off her phone and took the gold to her boyfriend, identified as MAM, to quietly slip out of the country.
An investigative team was informed about the missing girl, and they arrested the girl within hours as she tried to escape through one of the country's airports.
The police said that both have confessed to their crime and have been referred to Sharjah Public Prosecution.
