PMK leader S Ramadoss wants Tirupati to merge with Tamil Nadu
Tirupati, Kalahasthi, Puthur, Sathyavedu and Chittoor where the population of Tamils is high and it was unfairly merged with Andhra Pradesh during the re-organisation of states in 1956, he said.
PMK leader said that a large number of people in these villagers were Tamilians who were discriminated against when it came to job opportunities.
Ramadoss also said a special session of the TN (Tamil Nadu) Assembly should be convened to discuss the issue and a resolution seeking merger should be adopted and sent to the Centre for further action and also asked political parties in Tamil Nadu have to raise this demand in one voice.
He also claimed that during the re-organisation of states in 1956, Tamil Nadu lost a total of 70,000 square metres of territory to neighbouring states; of this, 32,000 square metres were lost to Andhra Pradesh alone.
