Karnataka polls: (After Durga) Ramya's parentage questioned

Mandya: The Mandya Lok Sabha by election campaigns saw a sorry face of politics, yet again, as a JD(S) leader questioned the parentage of Congress candidate and Sandalwood actress Ramya.

The grieving actress had not yet recovered from the demise of her father when this shocking comment by M Srinivas, a two-time MLA from Mandya rattled the political circuit.

Addressing an election rally in Mandya, he further went ahead and said,"She was not born naturally. The Congress has fielded a candidate who does not know her father, who does not know her caste, and who does not know her native place. She is a test-tube baby and a baby of the Congress party."

The JD(S) is divided on the comment. While a few like H D Revanna backed Srinivas's for his comment, there were others (Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy and JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda) who took on to a damage control mode.

The damage already done, hearts broken and media stirred, this episode has brought another dirty face of politics, one being the Durga case, to the fore. Although the context and the situation is completely different, the insensitivity of politics in both the cases have been proved time and again.
