Missing woman army doctor found, domestic help arrested
Meerut, Aug 5: An Army doctor, who was reportedly missing for over two months and feared dead, has been found with her children at the residence of her domestic help's relative in Mumbai, police said today.
"Major Rehmani Khan, 35, a medical officer in a field hospital in Meerut Cant, who was reported missing from here in May, was found with her children in Mumbai yesterday," SSP Meerut, Deepak Kumar said. "She was found at the Navi Nagar, Polava residence of Srikrishna, relative of her domestic help Pawan Welson," Kumar said.
Srikrishna is a non-commissioned officer of Havaldar rank. Welson has been arrested him and seized the vehicle in which he reportedly abducted Rehmani and her children. Crime Branch officials would bring Rehmani to Meerut today and question her.
Rehmani's husband Danish Chauhan had lodged a missing persons report on May 27, in which he had accused Welson and his kin of abducting Rehmani and their children, he said. However, the woman's father, Lihajur R Khan, had filed a complaint against Chauhan accusing him and his family of harassing and murdering Rehmani for dowry, they said.
An Army spokesperson said Rehmani had gone on leave from May 27 and was expected to re-join duty on July 12. When she failed to join on the mentioned date, the Army informed police.
