The state government has sought the army's help for relief operations after heavy rain and landslips hit the Idukki district. At least 11 persons have been killed in natural calamities in the district in the last two days.
About 200 km of roads in the district were not fit for travel. The soil had caved in over vehicles at Cheeyanpara in the district. Chief Minister Oomen Chandy asked people not to travel to those areas.
