BJP mocks Cong over indecision on PM candidate
Addressing media persons, BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman said repeated losses to Modi in Gujarat has left the Congress confused about how to tackle the man. She said while the Congress lost to Modi thrice since 2002, it also lost twice in the state before his arrival (1995 and 1998) and the five consecutive losses have left them baffled.
Sitharaman said the Congress can not even compete with the BJP in Gujarat and it must admit that it has failed to politically engage with Narendra Modi.
On the question of deciding the BJP's prime ministerial candidate, Sitharaman said the final decision is yet to be taken. She, however, said that the BJP is not confused like the Congress on the matter and it will take the decision at the right time.
Earlier on Sunday, the BJP's youth brigade protested against BJP leader Shatrughan Sinha's endorisng veteran party leader L K Advani as their prime ministerial candidate. Sinha, who hails from Bihar, had also praised Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar recently, describing the latter as a prime minister material.
BJP president Rajnath Singh assured a few days ago that the BJP had an internal consensus on the party's prime ministerial candidate and warned Sinha not to speak against Modi.
