UP
Lucknow, Aug 3: As demands to get justice for IAS officer Durga Shakti heightens, the Akhilesh government has something to bank upon while justifying its stance-a Local Intelligence Unit (LIU) report.

It now seems that both the DM and the LIU were asked to file a report after SP leader Narendra Bhati reportedly complained to chief Mulayam Singh Yadav about the demolition of the mosque in Gautam Budh Nagar.

While the district magistrate gave a clean chit to the SDM, the LIU report caused the damage. According to sources, the LIU report said that the Durga Shakti and a circle officer were present at the spot when the demolition occurred. It further goes on to say that the villagers had the intention of organizing a majlis (gathering) with over 100 people in protest against the demolition.

This was in contrast to the report by the DM, which reportedly cites evidences from the village negating any such tension. Adding to the debate is the fact that only Nagpal was targetted for suspension, and not the circle officer who accompanied her.

This further leads to speculations that the entire episode was made-up to remove the officer who had taken on the powerful sand mafia.

Political parties too are not lagging behind in criticizing the SP government for the act. Congress leader Satyavrat Chaturvedi lashed out at Narendra Bhati for his controversial statement in a public meeting on his role behind the Nagpal suspension.

"If there is any truth in this, then it is shameful. The Chief Minister should probe why one of the leaders from his party did something like this. And if there is any truth found in the remark during the probe then he should do justice with the suspended official," he said.

However, the Akhilesh government remains unfazed by the allegations and continues to stand by its decision. He, however, denied all connections with the sand mafia, justifying that the decision had nothing to do with the sand mining episode.

"You should inquire from the people of that village. The Muslim families collected donation for building a mosque, a wall was built, and you took the decision without holding any consultation and spoilt the environment there. The government will act against all those who act against goodwill and brotherhood or try to spoil the environment by of their work," he said.

He further added," If you look at the record of last two to three months then you will come to know that truck and machines were caught. We are also desirous that illegal mining should not take place."
