Mumbai, Aug 3: In what appears as the first sign of national divide, post the Telangana formation, Nitesh Rane (son of senior Congress leader Narayan Rane) refused to take back his words mocking the Gujaratis settled in Mumbai. Adding to the controversy was his statement that specified that those who loved Narendra Modi should go back to Gujarat.

In a press conference today, he verified,"I only said those who feel Narendra Modi is doing a good job can move there." Asked for his opinion on Gujarati societies favouring vegetarian residents, he said that it has been a common problem in these societies, which has been raised in the Assembly.

Another of his tweets says,"Veg skies, Veg hospitals, Veg housing societies.soon Veg Mumbai! Either Gujjus go back to Gujarat or they turn Mumbai into Gujarat... Red alert."

He was defiant and convinced about his remarks on Shoba De when she posted a satirical tweet wondering about Statehood in Mumbai after the creation of Telangana.

He said,"She should come out on the streets and say the same thing. We are waiting to welcome her." Looked more like a threat for the writer, the idea was clear when Rane retweeted in response to the writer's remark, saying,"Rather than Twitter, Shobha De shud say the same thing on the streets of Mumbai openly, after which she won't be left with any 'shoba' forever."
