On Friday, members of Gorkhaland Task force registered a police dairy on the 'absence' of Singh from the hills at a crucial moment. Chief of the organisation Manish Tamang said the MP never pursued their case even though he had assured several times that he would raise the issue.
GJM supporters also protested outside Singh's house in New Delhi, demanding his resignation. Manoj Shankar, a member of the Morcha, slammed Singh for not turning up while Darjeeling is on the boil for a separate state. "At a time when Telangana got statehood, Singh is sleeping in Rajasthan," he said.
A Gorkha delegation led by party general secretary Roshan Giri went to the national capital on Friday to meet central leaders like Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. The team is not going to meet the BJP leadership, sources said, which has made observers feel that the GJM will tilt in favour of the Congress in the next Lok Sabha elections.
