AP bifurcation pushes Hyderabad hospitals to expand in Seemandhra

Hyderabad, Aug 2: Major hospital groups are planning to expand their base in the Seemandhra region over the next one decade, following the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

According to reports, some of the hospital groups have even set up health facilities in Vijayawada, predicting the outcome of a strengthening Telangana movement over the last few years. Vijayawada could become the new capital city of Andhra Pradesh. Places like Kakinada, Vishakhapatnam, Ongole and Tirupathi are also under the healthcare groups' radar.

The Apollo Hospitals, for instance, have set up big facilities at Kakinada and Vishakhapatnam and the authorities said they would focus more on this aspect once the capital of Andhra Pradesh is decided.

Till now, Hyderabad was the main healthcare destination in the united Andhra Pradesh. Now, the hospital industry will have an incentive to reach out to a new state while the latter will also look for a boost in health infrastructure, among other issues.
