Jaipur, July 31: Just a few days after the Bihar mid day meal tragedy where 23 children died, a primary school in Baneda reports of a similar incident. Seventy-nine students from the upper primary school in Rajasthan fell ill on Tuesday after the consumption of mid day meals in which a lizard was found.
The children were rushed to the nearby community health centre, after they complained of nausea. However, there are no deaths reported till now and all of them had been discharged at the end of the day. A girl who was shifted to the Bhilwara district hospital was also stable.
"An enquiry under the supervision of the sub-divisional magistrate is under way. The report will be ready in three days. Samples of the meal served today have been sent for investigation. This is serious and we will take prompt action against the guilty," Onkar Singh, Bhilwara District Collector said.
The principal of the school KC Garg and midday meal in-charge Dinesh Tanwar have been suspended. Additional Block Education Officer Ladu Lal Koli has also been relieved off his duties. The three cooks on contract have also been suspended.
