WB polls: Left wants proper security for 5th phase
Kolkata, July 23: Accusing the West Bengal government of destroying democratic values of the state, Left Front chairman Biman Bose on Tuesday alleged that Trinamool Congress leaders had engaged in a competition for inciting violence.
"The
Trinamool
Congress
leaders
have
indulged
in
a
competition
for
inciting
violence.
The
leaders
of
that
party
are
now
in
a
competition
with
each
other
for
scoring
brownie
points," Bose
said.
He
said
that
the
state
government
had
kept
its
constitutional
duties
at
bay
to
indulge
in
the
destruction
of
democratic
values.
Bose demanded that proper security arrangement be made for the last phase of pancahayat poll in Jalpaiguri, Coochbehar and North and South Dinajpur districts in view of the large number of deaths in the last three phases. "Proper security arrangements should be made for the fifth phase.
So that violence doesn't take place and people can exercise their franchise," Bose said. Bose also alleged that the TMC had let loose a reign of terror in the last four phases by indulging in rigging and booth capturing.
