Patna, July 18: If one thinks that only administrative carelessness led to such tragedies like the one unfolded in Chhapra this week, he hasn't learnt the entire story.

In the aftermath of the Chhapra tragedy, Ekta Shakti Foundation, an NGO, refused to provide meals to government schools in the state alleging that a group of Maoists threatened it against supplying the food. The NGO supplies food to 200 state schools in Vaisahali district of Bihar.

Over 100 Maoists allegedly stormed into Ekta Shakti's office in vaishali district and asked them to stop supplying mid-day meals.

Autopsy report confirms insecticide in food

Meanwhile, post-mortem reports of 22 children who died after consuming the mid-day meal confirmed that they were poisoned by insecticide, which was either in the food or cooking oil. Hospital authorities said they were yet to confirm what the chemicals were. Many more children were still fighting for their survival in a hospital.
