Tumkur (Karnataka), July 16: Two persons were seriously injured after a bear went berserk at B G Mallya area in Tumkur, around 50 kilometres from Bangalore, around Monday midnight. The injured, Hanumesh and Seeabaiya, were admitted to Victoria Hospital in Bangalore and the Tumkur District Hospital, respectively.
Forest officials from Bannerghatta National Park have reached the spot to catch the bear. They are being assisted by veterinary doctors.
The bear was still prowling in the area till the last reports came in. The residents have been asked to stay indoors.
A few days ago, a herd of wild elephants had raided areas in Malur taluk in Kolar district and areas in Bangalore Rural. Five persons, including a photojournalist, were killed in the attack.
