Normal life was severely affected in the district and road traffic was disrupted, even as electricity supply was also interrupted due to trees falling on wires as well as uprooted electric poles.
It rained heavily in Rangampeta, Gandepalli, Jaggampeta, Peddapuram and Rajanagaram mandals and many irrigation sources received heavy inflows due to rains in catchment areas.
The district administration has warned fishermen not to venture into the sea due to prevailing weather conditions in the district. The administration is monitoring the situation in the district and taking all necessary steps to prevent crop and human loss.
Meanwhile, a weather bulletin said that rains and thundershowers would occur at most places over North Andhra Pradesh and at many places over the rest of Andhra Pradesh for the next three days.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall would also occur at one or two places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana during the next 48 hours, it said.
