HC approves employment of women in licensed bars in K'taka

Women bartenders in licensed bars
New Delhi, July 9: The Karnataka High Court today, directed the state government to allow bars with legal licenses to employ women bartenders.

The High Court also asked the Restaurant Owners' Association to adhere to the government guidelines for the next three months.

The government informed the High Court that women bar employees should be aged 21 years or above.

It also cleared that women working in bars and restaurants should be clad in trousers and full sleeved shirts, T-shirts with or without blazer or salwar kameez with dupatta.

There will also be a bar on dances or any other kind of exhibition by women, men or transgender, added the government.
