Twitter race: If Modi is Tendulkar, Tharoor is Dravid
New Delhi, July 3: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has emerged as the most-followed Indian politician on social networking site Twitter with 18,26,715 followers (and still counting).
What has made the emergence even more sweeter is that he has moved ahead of Congress's Shashi Tharoor, a central minister and also a media-savvy politician, who has 18,21,915 followers (and still counting).
Another BJP leader Sushma Swaraj who is the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, has 5,23,552 followers (still counting) while Congress's Digvijay Singh has 54,977 followers (still counting). Aaam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal has 4,12,470 followers (still counting).
The Congress reportedly appointed Tharoor to lead a team to take on the BJP over the cyber war, considered a major determinant of election outcomes in the new India. It was the same Congress, however, which had expressed annoyance after Tharoor made his infamous "cattle class" and "holy cows" tweets in 2009.
